Retirement

There comes a time in many people’s lives when they have to look to the future and that time has come for me. I’m now in my 71st year and will retire from active ministry in August this year.

It’s been an absolute pleasure to serve this Parish with so many wonderful people.

I’m sorry that I need to announce this news in this way but it’s the only way at the moment.

Thank you for being you.

Lockdown Latest News

Whilst the latest government rules would allow for the church to be open, this would require a large number of volunteers to do stewarding and cleaning before and after each mass.

This is not currently manageable and people are understandably more worried this time with the more virulent strain of virus.

We have sadly had to take the decision to close and the plan is to stay closed until at least the end of February.

We will continue to monitor the latest developments and make a decision to reopen or extend closure as and when more information is available.

Thank you all for your care and consideration.

November Dead List

  • Each year during the month of November, the Church offers us the opportunity to remember in a special way our deceased relatives and friends. We do this with a firm faith in our future reunion with them forever.

  • During the Masses in November and throughout the following year, please remember the following…

You may enter more than one name. Please separate names with a comma.
  • Submitted by…

Although some people have had the opportunity to give Fr Mike their November Dead List envelopes there are many who haven’t.

Please fill out the form and Submit it and then send your stipend online by clicking the button below.

Alternatively you can hand these in to the Presbytery at English Martyrs.

Welcome to The Immaculate Heart of Mary website. The parish is centred around our two churches, English Martyrs’ Church in Dalton and St Joseph’s Church in Aspley, both located in Huddersfield. Visitors to our site can find out what activities are going on in the parish and meet our Parish Priest – Fr Michael Walsh. The site will be kept up-to-date and each and every week you will be able to download the newsletter.

LOURDES SICK FUND

As our Church is now open, on Tuesday 29th September at English Martyrs  following the 10am Mass we were able to complete the outstanding draws. However, we do not have contact details for all our winners, therefore some will have to collect their cheque from Church after Mass. Thank you for your patience and continued support. Details of how the Fund is to progress will be given at a later date. We would also like to thank those winners who returned their winnings in full or part to the fund.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO SET UP A STANDING ORDER?

More and more people are paying their offertory collection by Standing Order, rather than having to use cash each week. Would you like to use this facility in future?

If so please download the standing order form or pick up a standing order form from the back of church if that is easier for you.

If you have any questions about setting up a standing order with the parish, do not hesitate to contact office.immaculateheart.huddersfield@dioceseofleeds.org.uk.

Thank you to you all for your continued kindness, generosity and support of our parish. It is very much appreciated.

Fr Mike (MUFC)
